Ed hired me in 1972 and in my short 8 years with DEA, Ed is one who stood out as the loyal, protective, courageous leader. He cared about his staff and it was obvious his staff cared deeply about him. It was a privilege and a great honor to be affiliated with such a incredible team lead by this incredible man. My family's prayers are with the Irvin family.

I started working for DEA in 1979 and was very glad to have been able to see Ed occasionally over the years after he retired. I was surprised and touched when he called me two weeks before his death to wish me a happy birthday. We had a nice conversation about the old days and also the fact that he was facing the end of his life. I just wish he would have told us sooner so that we could have been there for him. Bye Ed! My sincerest sympathy to his family.

I want to send my deepest sympathy of the passing and transition of a great man whom I had the most respect for as a member of the Missouri Dental Board.
